How to read this
- ServaRica: dedicated AMD EPYC cores, 1 IPv4 included, Montreal, 7-day refund on first order, ~30 days free on annual. Prices are the 2026 V2/V3 schedule effective 11 Sep 2026.
- We only compare like for like on CPU. A shared vCPU is a slice of a core under contention, not a core, so we do not count it against our dedicated cores in either direction. Where a shared plan still costs more than ours it is shown, marked “not counted”, and left out of the median.
- Hetzner cloud (CX/CCX): DE/FI, EXCLUDING VAT but INCLUDING IPv4. All CX and CCX prices verified first-party 11 Sep 2026.
- Hetzner bare metal (AX/SX): prices EXCLUDE VAT and the primary IPv4 is a separate $1.90/mo line — our figures include it, so the basis matches the cloud rows. A once-off setup fee applies ($159 on SX65) and is NOT in the multiple.
- OVHcloud: prices are the US public catalog in USD; bare-metal setup fees are $0 there. VPS figures are the 2027 generation at the no-commitment monthly rate.
- DigitalOcean & Vultr: IPv4 included; hourly/per-second billing with a monthly cap. Vultr VX1 billed ~730 hrs/mo.
- 'Bare metal' rows are whole physical servers (real dedicated cores, different product than a resizable VPS).
- Multiple compares MONTHLY price only; excludes setup fees and IPv4 add-ons.
- Cells marked '~' are approximate (some interpolated cloud storage sizes).
- OVHcloud has no publicly listed 16-vCore VPS (the VPS range tops out at VPS-4: 8 vCore / 24 GB). OVH appears in the 16-core rows through its bare-metal ranges instead.
- ECC. ServaRica runs ECC RAM throughout. Where a competitor sells ECC and non-ECC builds of the same server, the ECC build is the comparable one — e.g. Hetzner AX42-2 at $217.10, not AX42-1 at $117.10.
- In stock only. A competitor plan is listed only while it is publicly orderable — Hetzner EX44-1-LTD and AX41 were dropped on 13 Sep 2026 when they went out of stock.
2026 market context — why competitors raised prices
- RAM/NVMe shortage drove 2026 price hikes across the market.
- Hetzner: ~30-37% across the board (1 Apr 2026), then CCX +113-169% and CPX +144-176% (15 Jun 2026); CX/CAX +31-38%.
- OVHcloud raised VPS 2026 + bare metal from 1 Apr 2026, then moved the VPS line to a 2027 generation; bare-metal list prices rose again over the summer.
- DigitalOcean & Vultr held steady through Sep 2026.
- ServaRica raised V2/V3 KVM prices on 11 Sep 2026 — the first increase on these lines; the multiples below are computed against the new ServaRica prices.
- OVHcloud, 1 Oct 2026: Public Cloud Gen-3 instances (B3/C3/R3) unbundle local storage and the public IPv4 into separate billing lines — compute rates are unchanged, total cost rises 1.4-21.9% depending on size, weighted toward smaller instances. VPS and bare metal are NOT in scope, so the OVHcloud rows here are unaffected.
